I have wrestled with the continuing collapse of our society for a number of years. Recently I heard Newt Gingrich on Fox News. He made an interesting comment, the depth of which he may not grasp. He said a people's culture is based on their cult. Our English word cult comes from the latin "cultus" which means worship. Newt was not referring to some outlandish religious group when he referred to a people's cult. He meant that culture, which includes business, government, entertainment, family life, education and more, is rooted in the worship of any given people. His comment hit me like a ton of bricks. We are in a culture war, but the war will be quickly lost unless we restore our worship. Indeed we are becoming multicultural because as a nation we are walking away from true worship of the living God. The God of Heaven can only be reached through Jesus Christ and the mere mention of the Lord Jesus in public has been renounced by many. Some still speak openly of the Lord Jesus, but even Christian worship has become shallow at best. The collapse of our culture is not coming because of an invasion from without. It is due to failure within.
